After facing a lot of heat by paying around Rs.13,500 crore as NET IUC charges to the other mobile operators like Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL, Jio has started charging Rs.6 paise/minute to the calls made on non Jio mobile network.
Form which date the changes are effective?
The changes are effective to the users from their next recharge post October 10, 2019. The users with ongoing plan and validity will not have to pay IUC charges.
As per press release by Jio, the IUC charges are supposed to be waived off from January 01, 2020 by TRAI. Once the charges are officially waived off by TRAI, Jio still stop charing the IUC
New IUC top up recharge plans
* Equivalent minutes with IUC charged at 6 paise per minute, with additional charge for GST and processing fee, and duration of each call rounded up to nearest minute.
Post-paid customers will be billed at 6 paise per minute for off-net outgoing calls with increase in free data entitlement to the extent mentioned above.
The IUC charges will not be applicable for:
(a) all Jio to Jio calls;
(b) all incoming calls;
(c) Jio to landline calls; and
(d) calls made using WhatsApp or FaceTime and similar platforms.
The new plans will be made available from October 10, 2019.
